The Civic Space Technical Support Project, financed by the European Union, is organizing a workshop on “How Do We Ensure Accessibility in Our Organization?” at the Civic Space office on Friday, January 31st, from 15:30 to 18:30.
The workshop aims to support CSOs in making their policies, operations, and daily activities accessible to people with disabilities. It will be facilitated by Buğu Şah and Emete İmge.
Mainstreaming Accessibility means incorporating the issues and experiences of people with disabilities into designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating policies and programs across all political, economic, and social areas. It involves developing and implementing strategies that do not reinforce existing inequalities but aim for equality of access.
The workshop will be conducted in Turkish and will feature an interactive format. It will be based on Civic Space’s ‘Accessibility Mainstreaming Guidelines’ This guidelines offers concrete measures and actionable steps to ensure accessibility across strategic, operational, and project levels. Additionally, it includes a checklist that organizations can use to self-assess their accessibility practices.
Civic Space, with a total budget of 3,499,550 euros financed by the European Union, aims to contribute to the creation of a stronger civil society structure by supporting democratic change and confidence-building measures within the Turkish Cypriot community.
