Despite barriers, Civil society in Cyprus has a key role to play in creating spaces for dialogue and cooperation between the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities and every other community living in Cyprus.
Therefore, Civic Space is promoting multi communal work in common interest topics by supporting bicommunal groups working on human rights, environment protection, LGBTI rights among other. Civic Space is also seeking to favour a multi-communalism and intersectionality approach in every activity: training, helpdesk and Grow Civic support, study visits and exchange visits.
Out of the 116 supported Active Citizenship Mechanism (ACM) actions, 64 have targeted peace and reconciliation and/or bi-communal partnership.
Civic Space has organized one training session on mediation and four training sessions to facilitate peace dialogue, with approximately 90 participants attending.
Civic Space has organized numerous bi-communal information-sharing visits on both sides of the island, mostly on environmental issues.
