Director General of DG REFORM, Mr. Mario Nava, met with Cypriot CSOs at Civic Space.
On 3rd of February 2022, during his visit to Cyprus, Mr. Mario Nava, Director General of DG REFORM, had a roundtable discussion with Cypriot civil society organisations (CSOs) working on environment across Cyprus. During this dialogue meeting, participants discussed the challenges CSOs face and how the European Union could enhance its support to intercommunal environment work. The meeting took place in the EU funded Civic Space project premises.
13 CSO representatives from 10 different CSOs have attended the meeting and raised fundamental issues for improving intercommunal environmental work in Cyprus such as: access to EU funding other than the Aid Programme for Turkish Cypriot CSOs, the need for political support and encouragement to intercommunal efforts, the need for common standards and data for the environment and climate monitoring among others.
Civic Space has coordinated the compilation of a report to be presented to the Director General, listing the issues raised.
